This time I present to us any strap a bit special, being of all straps that have tested so far, the most flexible and comfortable I’ve ever had; the EG-111 a strap born of a personal idea of its creator Olaf Lugten from DStrap for my reviews and posterior project book about the artisans & straps.
The EG-111 strap is made in vintage pattern aged and outstanding workmanship. If in the actually world of straps, Sandra Visser is “the innovation”, and Peter Gunny is the quality of materials with final results, without doubt Olaf is the craftsmanship and knowledge of the leather when working them.
This time I will not describe too much the strap with text, because there you have a lots of pics to see and think everyone speak for themselves. Just to say the strap is very comfortable and although at first gives the feeling of being fragile for its lightness and ductility, then it develops as a good battle strap. Only a recommendation, if you are one of those “easy perspiration“ and the PH of your skin is a little peculiar, beware the buckle in summer, because sometimes after carrying the strap several hours in the wrist, leaving some skin dark “green” tone for the material that is made.
Without more, I leave you with the photo gallery to present the strap alone. My most sincere congratulations to Olaf for his magnificent work in this strap so unique and different.

THE HISTORY (The consequence of a color in memory)
Note: My apologizes for the text, probably maked in wrong or bad english, I write directly and i´m not reviewed or modified it. I want it as it is what I felt and transcribed in my poor English.
I hope your understand.
I’m not sure how beginning this story, because I don´t understand what happened the past days when I was finishing this review and decided to mount this strap on a PAM00382. This watch is typecast as a watch straps dark colors, mostly brown or green. They have created a lots of special models for this strap and do not really know for why, always with these premises; dark colors, and green or bronzes stitching. Suddenly it occurred to me to put this strap at the watch, because the patina that had taken the Bronzo was very similar in tone and aging of the strap and I said; for why not?
Suddenly, when I install on the strap in the watch, the color set transported me a few years ago when the color of the “desert” was a stage very important in my life and I will never forget.
I’m not sure for why, seeing this strap mounted in a Bronzo, reminds me of the military boots of displaced armies to Syria, Libya, Iraq or Egypt. Some of these areas I visited them between 2008 and 2011 when revolts and civil wars awakened by the “Arab Spring“.
During a stage of my life I was collaborating with several organizations covering conflict and war zones; “Unknown civil war in Nepal”, Albania, and Gaza Strip, Macedonia, Egypt, Bahrain and Ukraine, being this last civil war that made me irrevocably stay away forever from this type of photographic activity. In the two last visits to hot zones, I lived a fact that made me reflect deeply on what he was doing, and the loss of several friends, and colleagues made my fear tuck inside the body. I’m not ashamed to say, “I got scared” and much, and in this kind of terrain, if you have fears, not natural, but of the “ghosts of your mind,” you better go home, because failure to do in this zones , you will probably die.
In my case, the death of Tim Hetherington, one of the person most impacted me for know him and the accumulation of coincidences, presented me as a “sign” and the excuse to say “it´s time to stop” and although I do not regret I did, and I struggled a lot, because developing such photographic activity can be converted or become in a Yonki in a disasters, making a big addiction in this type of activities.
During the “Arab Spring” had the opportunity to travel to Bahrain to cover the revolts, but I change and decide me to go to Egypt. A few months earlier, the proximity of the area with my residence and the fact that he had recently been in Bahrain in the first revolts with an almost dramatic ending, (a stray bullet would hit on my ankle, and one of my camera lenses, which was hit avoiding my left foot blown to thousand pieces) did not come back, that probably thanks to made that, now i´m here writing this, because if finally I go to Bahrein probabbly I go beside or near to Tim to Libya, because I met with him in New York in February-March the same year and had arranged to meet in Bahrain and probably have seen us I would gone with him to Libya. But that was the last time I saw him; In April 20th he died in a rebel attack on Misurata with the photographers Chris Hondros and Guy Martin that last are seriously wounding .
After that, I told myself that never again return to a countries or hot zone in conflicts, the reasons why many photographers we move to those places many times is not for economic reasons, believe me, the conditions and prices for photography are laughter (instead for make to cry). The motivations are other, much more related to discover the truth and live unique situations of the history (both ingredients in equal parts).
For a long time I was very touched because the death of Tim and the incident of the bullet; coming to think they were “signs” to say my time had ending at the field. But human stupidity did that one day when I starting the armed conflict in Ukraine, decided to go with some friends to cover the event. I have never been so badly and I’ve been so afraid in my life. An unfounded fear, and take the decision to come back and close that stage forever. Fear and insecurity had captured me. It was time to hang the equipment of such activity and burying forever.
And so I did.
In these pictures you’re seeing, I´m feeling and I had the moments of them is reflected, having in my mind the memory of Tim and the incidents having during all those years lived in different continents and countries … Now I see for sure I realize that unconsciously, I returned to materialize the burial of all those memories … however, I realize that I can not, and they will pursue me all my life. For better or worse.
Wars are not won anyone, only the war win itself, the rest, all sides, all living creatures moving around the war are the victims; ALL, and all who live a war, during the war, become in MONSTERS, all without distinction. Some get over it after it is finished, others live with them forever…
