The first sensation to see this strap is; Wow! this is Italian! Alfio, the artisan who designed this exquisite strap knows what is the elegance and reflects on this strap a lot of surprises.
Let´s go to look closely and in detail this strap and a personal opinion about it:
Manufacture by Bakeka Straps (Italy)
Vintage 3 fold tecnique
leather vintage strap hand made & hand stitch
Customizable length (Standard 125/75 mm), thick4,5/5 mm
For lug 24,26mm
PRICE: without buckle: 65 € with buckle: 80€ plus shipping costs
The strap has a classic and effective design for a watch, with a uniform width throughout the length of strap (Vintage Style).
The strap generally have many highlight details, but one of the house brand is the information that the craftsman leaves on the back of it; a stamp with the logo of the artisan and something that seems that many strapmakers do not consider, but for collectors of straps or those who like to change strap with various types of watches is a good reference; put the strap measures. Alfio solves this with a print of millimeter width thereof (26mm in this case).
The keeper (one in this belt) is performed with double reinforcement punch and two threads.
The personality and almost essential feature of this strap is the color stitching with the flag of Italy. This detail gives the strap a unique character that makes it distinguished from rest of vintage straps of this type and characteristics. A detail well resolved by Alfie and revalues the strap enormously.
Perhaps one of the things that I do not like this strap is the finish on the back as a stitching holes concerns. If we observe, is too note the color of the original untreated skin color leaving a trail in clear and diferent color that although it is not in sight, perhaps some may not like. However the price contained of this strap vanishes completely this detail, repaying this handicap the rest of the details and as I say; its price.
The buckle is another of the surprises that Alfio for this strap offering a slightly different design of normal bucke “plane” GPF or OEM Panerai (Pre-V and current) with a curvature in its middle which gives it an added personality . This detail I like personally, however I think it would be much better if the tonge of the buckle at its end had accompanied the curvature to offer a much more homogeneous whole. But again I go back to the strap price I automatically retracts when carrying out the review based on the amount paid and what we obtain.
In the top two images it shows the detail origin, color and quality of the skin used in strap.
THE STRAP AND THE PAM 00364
For this review we decided to use a watch of manufacture Panerai 47mm reference 00364 because we thought they did a good combo. Although strap seems a sober and elegant style, you can combine perfectly a sport watch or more casual character. The details of the three colors of the Italian flag get to give a character style but also casual or sporty.
THE STRAP ON WRIST
The strap on wrist is at first a little hard to touch, but after a while adapting to the wrist like many other much expensive straps in value and maintain the same hardness, keep in mind that it is a piece made in three folds with 5mm thick.
Definitely and as a final note, I think it is a strap with a very good quality/price and also provides to the user collector or leather straps users a different perspective within the category “Vintage” strap. A good balance that makes it a good choice for both beginner and knowledgeable collector. It’s the kind of strap, you know who has done when you see.
